Chesterfield 1858 Houses Project

How many 1858 houses still exist i nChesterfield?
The 1858 map of Chesterfield is the oldest "complete" map-it shows every road and every house with its owners name.

To answer "how many still exist"each 1858 house has been given a number (see above). A database list has been made. From his house numbers map I have made "Maplets" of smaller areas to make research easier.

Ideally, a helper would print out their Maplet section of the worksheet , write current names on it  and then type in the names themselves into the online list - a Google Sheets online file( SEE BELOW).

2   Write the 2025 names on the maps - example above

To download your "Maplet"  click here.

To edit the  is a Google Sheets list...

Suggested "helper" technique:
1) download and print out a copy of the "maplet" for your section of town
2) Write the current name next to the house site ("cellarhole" or ???)  on the Maplet.
3) send Dave a picture of your written-on worksheet
4) And/or type up your info into the Google sheets list. Note also the "More Info" column where you could say ("That's where so and so shot the robber in 1972.."  (eg)) .

=============================After the 2024 names are listed in the Google Sheets list, they will be transferred to this database with 254 sites , organized by street.  Click on the left most field - the two diagonal arrows, to enlarge the Record. This "Airtable" file is not editable by you.... DaveAirtable

Below is the "Widow Lincoln Record (house #212).  Scroll down (right hand bar) to see more.
If you click on the small map image (In Airtable, not here) you will see the "Maplet" for that section.
